Horse Shows

Posted May 2013

After the dreadful summer last year with all the changes and cancellations and the following wet winter coupled with the shortage of helpers and increased cost of everything we have looked at our shows and tried to produce a workable compromise.

Instead of having 3 shows – 2 fun shows and a large show which proved too large for the only dry field in the village last year we will hold two shows of similar size – a Summer Show and an Autumn Show.

Denmead Summer Show

Sunday 30 June

Inhams Lane, Denmead, show rings starting 9.00 am, jumping 8.45 am

This show is a slightly slimmed down version of the old Denmead Horse Show and will contain all the existing championships.

o   Working Hunter

o   Ridden Showing

o   Coloured

o   In Hand

o   Youngstock

o   Veteran

o   Arab and Foreign Breeds

o   Mountain & Moorland

o   Children’s Showing

o   Miniatures (Mini ring)

In addition the Mini ring will also include small jumping classes for children/beginners, a Handy Pony class and a Best Rider Class (on an individual assessment)

Last, but not least, there will be a jumping ring combining clear round (at fixed heights) in the morning and classes starting at midday.

We hope this will give everything something that suits them and includes some fun elements whilst not being a ‘Fun Show’.

Denmead Autumn Show & Express Event

1 September 2013

Hopefully we will be back on Forest Road for this show this year – but if it keeps on raining that may not be possible and we may be back in Inhams Lane.

The Autumn Show will include

·        Fun Express Event in 4 sections as usual.  There will be no separate dressage but an option to do the dressage phase only in any of the sections time permitting.

·        Ridden Showing Ring

·        In Hand Showing Ring

·        A mixed ring for Fun & Children’s classes in the morning and Miniature classes in the afternoon.  At lunch time there will be a new in hand fun class for ‘Horse/Pony Obedience’

We hope this will provide the mix of ‘Fun’ and serious showing that people seem to be interested in.

There will be 2 Championships for the more serious showing classes.

In order to keep the shows going though we really DO NEED HELP particularly in putting up and taking down the shows – if you or another member of your family are able to give us any help with this or on the day please let me know. Those who join our regular “Show Family” will earn discounted entry fees!!
